The following information is from Senior Special Agent Bryan Schaffer of the BNSF Railway. I look forward to seeing fellow railfans at the meeting! -john, AlabamaRailfan.com
My name is Bryan Schaffer. I'm a Senior Special Agent with the BNSF
Railway Police at Birmingham, AL.
I would like to invite any interested citizens and law enforcement to
a presentation on "Citizens For Rail Security". This is a program
started by the BNSF Railway that is based on the neighborhood watch
program. With this program we encourage the public to help act as
our "eyes and ears" and report anything suspicious they see on or
near railroad property.
The "Citizens For Rail Security" meeting will be held on Saturday,
January 26th at 2:00 PM at the BNSF rail yard off of 4th Street West
in Birmingham. There is no charge for the event but reservations are
required as seating is limited.
The meeting will consist of an Operation Lifesaver presentation,
followed by the CRS presentation and then the meeting will be opened
up for general discussion on railfanning. Feel free to bring
photographs, DVD's, etc. Refreshments will be served.
If you are unable to attend this session, you can still sign up for
the program by visiting www.citizensforrailsecurity.com . I'll also
be scheduling many more presentations in 2008. Also, if you would
like to have me as a guest speaker for your club or group just
contact me with the details. Besides the CRS program, I also am a
presenter for Operation Lifesaver and a Grade Crossing Collision
Investigator Instructor. All of these presentations are available at
no charge.
I'm looking forward to meeting as many of you as I can. If you ever
have a question or problem that I can assist you with – please
contact me.
For further details please contact me by e-mail: bryan.schaffer@bnsf.com or at my office number: 205-320-3626. And if you ever need to report a BNSF railroad emergency call: 800-832-5452.
Stay Safe!
