CSX Road Slug 2306, formerly an EMD GP35, rests between duties with it's mother GP40-2 in Decatur, AL.

CSX took elderly EMD GP35s and GP30s and converted them to Road Slugs, which retained the cab controls so that crews can operate from the slug's cab when paired with a "mother" GP40-2.

When ex-GP30s were converted to road slugs, most of the long hood access doors were simply plated over as were the exhaust stack opening and the cooling fans. The dynamic brake grids and cooling fan remain though, to provide extra braking.
